Blackberries

Blackberries

Our Chester Blackberries, a thorn less variety, begin to be harvested in early August and bear until mid-September.
This crop, however, is borderline hardy in our region and the tender spring shoots, which often peep out prematurely, are subject to spring freezes which often destroys a major percentage of the blackberry harvest.
Chester is quite large with a tart taste.
When they are dead-ripe and soft, they are amazingly sweet.
